The Two BoxesI have in my hands two boxes, Which God gave me to hold. He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box, And all your joys in the gold." I heeded His words, and in the two boxes, Both my joys and sorrows I stored, But though the gold became heavier each day, The black was as light as before. With curiosity, I opened the black, I wanted to find out why, And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole, Which my sorrows had fallen out by. I showed the hole to God, and mused, "I wonder where my sorrows could be!" He smiled a gentle smile and said, "My child, they're all here with me.." They show in each cloud formation- in the thunderheads surging across the sky... God's fingerprints are seen in the branches of the sturdy oak tree, their branches waving in the warm winds of summer. God's fingerprints form the brilliant colours and shades of each butterfly wing, creating each kind unique in shape and size. They caress each flower petal, each one perfectly made with the complex weaving of scent and beauty... God's fingerprints have shaped you and me. With each amazing eye and every hair on your head, we display His wondrous craftmanship... God has left us His fingerprints so we might see Him in this dark and crazy world! He waits... for us to come and accept His love and mercy! We've been given a roadmap to life- now it is up to us to follow His directions. We don't need to travel the roads alone or stumble along the way. He is there, waiting and watching for us to run to Him and let Him guide us through our lives until the end!
